GATERS Project at the 2021 UNFCCC COP’26 Meeting in Glasgow

GATERS had the invitation from the International Chamber of Shipping (ISC) to display the project activities in the “Shaping the Future of Shipping” conference/exhibition event on 5-6 Nov 2021 in conjunction with the global climate meeting, COP’26 event in Glasgow. The 2021 UNFCCC COP26 meeting in Glasgow is the most important COP meeting to be held since the 2015 meeting that gave rise to the Paris Agreement. Recent policy announcements from John Kerry, US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate and Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, have shown there will be a significant focus on the shipping industry

In this event, GATERS was presented to the global VIP audience, including the UK and other foreign ministers and the IMO secretary, through the effective dissemination of materials prepared and displayed in the Technology Innovation Centre of the Strathclyde University. The GATERS exhibition stand welcomed to many international, national and local visitors and other stakeholders from the shipping industry by the GATERS team members at the University of Strathclyde led by the GATERS Project coordinator Prof Mehmet Atlar and project manager Dr Batuhan Aktas as well as other team members.

GATERS project was presented to the global VIPs (including the IMO secretary on the right picture) in the "Shaping the Future of Shipping" conference/exhibition event in conjunction with the global climate meeting, COP'26 event in Glasgow .
